MCKE has funded a research project led by Dr. Nezar Alhebshi. Dr. Alhebshi is an Assistant Professor in Microbiology in Jazan University. His team includes Dr. Majid Alstouha from the same university and Dr. Jan K Blancato from Georgetown University. The project will focus on the study of the Exome Signature of Shamma (dipping snuff and its association with oral squamous cell carcinoma. This funding marks a shift in the way MCKE funds research in the Kingdom. In the past, MCKE funded only Scientific Chairs, but this latest move signals that MCKE will consider individual projects for funding as long as they are aligned with the vision and priorities of the center.
